Hi Brent,

Thanks for the review. As I am in the middle of deciding which one to buy, I was wondering if you have any insight on how the AKG K-550 hold up comparing to Shure SRH-840, Denon AHD-2000, Audio Technica ATH-M50 or Philips Fidelio L1 headphones.

Hi, Aopu. I have heard the SRH-840 and the AHD-2000 only briefly, so I don't feel I can comment on them. I would probably prefer the K500 to the Fidelio L1, but I like them both a lot so it would be pretty close. Obviously the Fidelio L1 is better for portable use.

If you had to pick between the AKG-K550 and the PSB M4U 2 which one would you prefer for your music listening pleasure?

Noise cancellation is not necessary. It's going to be used in a home environment

Music type:
20% rock
20% electronic
20% orchestra
20% hip hop
20% pop

So basically all round performer. Budget $350-$400

Thanks!

@cyberathlete: For you, I would recommend the PSB M4U 1, the passive version of the M4U 2, without hesitation.
