British firm Monitor Audio has introduced the new CWT series — a line of in-wall and ceiling speakers featuring not just an audiophile pedigree, but a low-profile grille design perfect for stealthy custom installations. This latest addition to the company's custom install speaker lineup is designed to integrate with existing models; the drivers, tweeters, and other components used in the CWT draw heavily on Monitor's design experience in high-end two-channel and home-theater speakers.
Available loaded with 4-inch, 6-inch, or 8-inch drivers, coupled with Monitor's signature C-CAM dome tweeter in a concentric design. The tweeter module can be pivoted, allowing the installer maximum flexibility in placement.
All models in the lineup are less than 4 inches deep, so they can be installed easily between studs in any in any standard wall. The trimless frames hold square or circular paintable grilles (which are magnetically fixed for ease of installation and service) are available; a single substructure is used fo all models of a given driver size, so grilles can be swapped as needed to fit installation requirements and decor.
The 4-inch CWT140 lists for $160 per unit; the 6-inch CWR160 for $200; the 8-inch CWT180 for $270 a piece. Each model is available in an S (square grille) and R (round grille) variant, though as mentioned above those can be swapped after the fact. Further information is available via monitoraudiousa.com
