It's nice having remote speakers wired to a second zone on your receiver just be aware you are increasing your exposure to lightning damage. I had speakers on the screen porch wired to an Onkyo AV receiver a while back but never again. Lightning struck a tree about forty feet from the porch and although the jolt never directly reached the porch enough of came to the speaker wire and into my receiver in the house. What began life as an inexpensive entry level receiver is now a very expensive doorstop.

I recently bought and installed ceiling speakers for my second zone kitchen area. I am unable to play digital sources to that set of speakers. In reading reviews I find this is a common limitation of second zones. I enjoy having some music but I'd sure like to be able to listen to more than my radio and TV.
Any suggestions? or product recommendations?
