Couldn't agree with you more. That's why my amplifier is 32 years old and my speakers 41. There are four knobs on my amp that control every possible use and setting. The speakers have no controls. That's minimalism and utility working in harmony. a couple of speaker wires is a very small price pay for that kind of satisfaction.

While I enjoy a sleek and sexy piece of AV gear, sleek is not always functional. It would be a huge improvement if producers of non commercial AV equipment would supply an easy to understand owners manual. I just purchased a pair of Martin Logan Electrostactic ESL's and their owners manual is a thing of beauty. The manual for my Denon receiver on the other hand is almost useless. This problem also occurs in the computer industry where a manufacturer makes a great product (sound & video cards especially) yet fails to produce a driver that works properly with their product not to mention the feeble attempt they call the owners manual. These issues will certainly affect future purchases.
