Just a few years ago, retailers were furious when their secret Black Friday ads leaked online before they hit he Thursday papers. Now, they can hardly wait for eager bargain hunters to fire up Acrobat and scour their flyers for deals. But, at the same time, this years deals are a little disappointing. There's no $500 42-inch 1080p LCD we all were crossing our fingers for, but if you have a little extra cash, there are still some sales worth noting.

BEST BUY
Overall grade: C
With Circuit City reeling, it seems like they could've used this as an opportunity to shove a stake in their hearts. Instead, they show up with some decent prices. Nothing to riot over.

LG 47-inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV for $1,500
They're calling it a $500 discount, but that's only because it comes with a free $200 set-up from the Geek Squad, something you don't need if you know your way around an HDMI cable.

Various Blu-Rays including Cloverfield, Superbad, 300, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Rambo and more. $16.99
With other stores offering huge arrays of DVDs for as low as $2, $17 BDs still isn't that great of a deal. The magic number is $10 and almost no one hit it this year.

Sony 7.1 Channel 735 Watt Home Theater Receiver $199
It's not a bad little receiver for only $200 and that's over $100 off the normal price. Circuit City has the same deal, too.

Sony Blu-ray Player $250
This is a real stumbling point for big blue. Lots of other places are offering similar players for $200 or even less.

CIRCUIT CITY
Overall grade: B
Their keeping the doors open on many of their stores long enough to deliver some decent bargains. They're probably your best for a TV, too if you're not yet sure what you want.

Samsung 46-inch 1080p LCD HDTV $1099
It's not 120Hz and it's an inch smaller than Best Buy's LG, but the Samsung name draws a little more credibility when it comes to LCDs. Plus, it's a full $400 cheaper so you'll have enough money left over to buy yourself a new center channel to go along with it.

Creative Zen 16GB $129
It doesn't do anything in HD, but $50 off of something that was only $179 to start is a pretty good deal, especially since you won't be finding any crazy discounts on iPods....ever. Many places offer you a free iTunes gift card when you buy an iPod, but I'd rather have the cash.

Assorted Blu-Rays $11.99
Selection includes Reservoir Dogs, King of New York, The Shining, American Psycho, Terminator 2, First Blood and more. I think this is a better selection than Best Buy offers and at a cheaper price. The movies are older, though so you might already own some of these on DVD.

40-inch 1080p LCD Sony with a Blu-Ray player $1,200
If you're looking to upgrade your TV and get yourself into the Blu-ray game, this isn't a bad option. It's also not the cheapest option, but you might have to do less fighting if you just roll in and tell them you want the package.

42-inch Panasonic Viera Plasma $899
Deals on good plasmas seem to be pretty sparse this year. Everyone is opting to drop prices on mid-level LCDs and cheapo stuff. For less than a thousand including tax, this thing isn't a bad purchase, even if it's not for your main room.

K-MART
Overall grade: C-
Of course, they can't keep up with the big boys because they have to worry about discounting night gowns and blenders. They do have one deal, though.

Sony Blu-ray player for $179
It's $70 cheaper here than it is at Best Buy and they're open on Thanksgiving so you can hopefully run out and grab one before the killer crush that happens on Friday.

RADIO SHACK
Overall grade: D
I thought this would be their chance to take a bite out of the big guys. Instead, they deliver the same stuff they always have. They get an A for tiny, remote-controlled trucks and helicopters, though.

Samsung BD player $199
Meh. The line will probably be shorter here than at the big guys, but it's probably worth waiting in line for the Sony rather than going with the Samsung.

SEARS
Overall rating: B+
The Sears flyer was overall pretty impressive, but their HD offerings were more than respectable. If you're going to try and get a few things at once, this might be a good bet.

Sharp 46-inch 1080p LCD $899
A big, full-HD panel from a good name for less than a thousand with tax is just what I like to see on Black Friday. It's a full $500 cheaper than it normally is in the store. This might be the TV buy of the day.

Blu-ray Sony player $179
They're on par with the lowest price around on the Sony player. You can go cheaper at Wal-Mart, but it's not going to be a name you like.

Sony Bravia 1000-watt 5-disc home theater $249
If you're a true home theater enthusiast, this certainly isn't going to be your main rig, but for a spare room or a back-up, the $150 discount is pretty substantial.

52-inch 1080p Samsung 120Hz LCD HDTV $2099
If you're looking for something on the higher-end, this isn't a bad call. That price includes $600 worth of instant savings off of the regular price. Plus, since the high-end stuff won't be flying off the shelves, you can probably wake up, eat a turkey sandwich and stroll over there to pick one up.

Worst Deal: HDMI kit. 6 ft. HDMI cable, surge protector and a screen cleaner $34.99
This is the kind of crap you get home and can't believe you bought. Even in the midst of the craziness, remember that you have a surge protector and we buy our HDMI cables online. Then take a deep breath.

WAL-MART
Overall grade: C
If you're ready to go and fight it out with the craziest bargain hunters known to man, then strap on your pads and check out the Wal-Mart deals. I suggest stretching first.

Magnavox Blu-ray player $128
It's the cheapest BD player on the block. You might literally have to fight someone to get it. Or, you can upgrade to the Samsung player for $200, but once the Magnavox players are gone, those might be hard to come by, too.

50-inch Samsung Plasma HDTV $798
They're not bragging about it being 1080p so it's safe to assume that it's not. It's big and cheap, though, which is what sells units on days like this. I suggest this deal if you're sort of wealthy and you're building walls of TVs like in the party scene from Less Than Zero.

Assorted Blu-ray Movies $15
The selection includes Iron Man, Transformers and Indana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Hey, you're going to need something to play in your new, cheap player. Iron Man is definitely the stand-out there so be prepared for it to be sold out.

LEFTOVERS
You'll notice that there's not a section for Target and that's because they didn't have a single HD deal worth mentioning, which is odd since Blu-ray and HDTV seem to be the big draw this year. But, I'm sure many of you will still be searching through the papers on Thursday, looking for stuff that I've missed. That said, if you see a big guy with a beard Friday morning with an arm full of SD cards and a copy of Iron Man on BD, be nice to him, because he's me.
