Although we announced back in March that this was coming, it's finally official. Just announced — YouTube videos will be available on your TV through your TiVo. Broadband-connected TiVo Series3 and TiVo HD DVRs can access millions of videos hosted on YouTube.
Why spend hours cramped in front of your computer when you can watch this in the comfort of your home theater?
"With YouTube content now available on TiVo, on top of all the movies,
music videos, songs, and TV shows that are simply unavailable on cable
and satellite, TiVo subscribers have more choice on their TV sets than
any other TV viewers in the world,” said Tom Rogers, President and CEO
of TiVo Inc.
“YouTube brings video where the audience is — across the Web and onto
mobile devices, TVs, and video games,” said Hunter Walk, YouTube’s
director of product management. “The partnership with TiVo extends our
ability to make YouTube accessible anywhere and lets people watch what
they want, when they want it.”

TiVo is stepping away from its MPEG-2 norm — the YouTube content is H.264
The software upgrades will be coming out over the next few weeks to enable this feature. Log onto www.tivo.com/youtube for more more information. —Leslie Shapiro
