I feel most companies put profit over green. I commend the House of Marley for making items we love and doing it's part for the environment.

I think we can have both. There is so much waste out there that plenty of materials exist to do just about anything. Thanks for the contest!

As great as it is to use recycled material for all new products, the real problem is the conditions in foreign countries that make electronics for US companies. It seems that the only concern is the bottom line and "how fast and cheap we can make this product" regardless of the working conditions. There seems to be a blind eye toward this problem.

I think anytime a company can make a commitment to recycle , and reuse from the products they distribute it's great and they care about the environment. I think you can still produce an awesome product in doing so!!!

Most companies put profit first. It is commendable that the Marley family puts quality and environmentalism as a part of it's marketing. I am looking for a new pair of headphones and will try to locate a pair to listen to them. I await the S&V review also.

Can't think of a single reason we aren't using far more recycled materials in products! This is decent step forward (and winning a pair wouldn't hurt either!).

Like the current situation that Apple is facing now it's obvious that people care where the product is made and under what conditions. House of Marley should be making their products in Jamaica to be really authentic although I highly doubt that even a tiny piece of any of their products either originated there or even could be produced sucessfully there.

I coomend a company that uses recyclables, as long as it does not effect the quality. Hopefully these would last long enough that I wouldn't have to worry about recycling them.

I think companies have a moral obligation to treat people fairly and not destroy the world we all live in. If this weren't the case, everything would be made in pollution emitting sweatshops.

Every business should be able to afford to do things the right way. Our "shopping society" relishes the prices at places like Walmart, however, which makes competition difficult and cuts profits to the bone. Certainly companies that can afford to do things the right way should do so.

Recycling and posting an positive Green Image is becoming more and more important on a number of levels. If a company can aspire to both and keep the quality of their product up, it's a win for everybody. I've been a huge Bob Marley fan for decades, it would add a new demension to my enjoyment of his music to be able to listen through this pair of headphones.

I think some of the working conditions as elucidated in the NY Times article linked to above are reprehensible, and if more consumers were made aware of them I believe less people would buy products made under such conditions -- enough so that it would put a sizable dent in sales and profit margins. If consumers could be assured that these products weren't being manufactured under horrible working conditions, I believe they would be willing to pay a little bit more for them too.

While recycling and the green movement are worthy social efforts that businesses should embrace, I believe their primary purpose is to bring to market products that are well designed, innovative, and reasonably priced. If that can be done using recycled material or following a green methodology then even better........ but not a requirement.

Nice headphones. Green is a great idea as long as the price remains competitive. Using less packaging and still providing a great product is what is needed.

While I'm all for companies being "green", I think sometimes people expect too much and never seem satisfied. Sometimes a company wants to make a high quality product while making a profit, and being "green" doesn't always fit into those two parameters. Too much "green" can choke off our companies and end up costing people jobs.

I think there has to be a balance. there is definately a demand for eco-consious products, but at the same time that shouldn't detract from the main objective...in this case delivering good sound. I think with headphones the cost of using recyclable materials shouldnt signifigantly impact the overall cost, and would be applauded by most consumers.

Everyone and every company should do what is right, not what is best for the short term bottom line. What is "right" is best for the big picture. Delivering a quality product doen't require trashing the world

I argue that is it everyone's responsibility to be more green in their daily lives. Business and government should use their best ethical judgment when developing policy and procedures. Business should not be forced to use recylced product, however they should ensure that their components are recyclable, renewable, and energy efficient without sacrificing quality and endurance. If businesses can use recycled product, they should make every effort to use these products. Bottom line is products need to work, are quality, and last. If they do not, the business will fail.

I completely believe that we as customers should try to be selective in our purchases and favor companies that manufacture goods in a sustainable and ethical way. Voting with your dolar is very effective in capitalist system.

These would be sweet, just got laid off, so I have lots of time to listen to music. Winning these headphones would help cheer me up, tough times.

I use headphones every day of my life for working out, bicycling and running, I really need a new sweet pair of headphones like the Marley's, and by the way I did not shoot the Deputy!

Ya gotta have headphones.. it makes a world of difference.. trust me I know!

As with all enviornmental issues; remember to follow these steps:
1. Reduce, cut back on how much you consume.
2. Reuse, the industry does not need to use resources to manufacture so much.
3. Recycle; send everything back into the manufacture (re-manufacture) system. From paper to glass and from buliging materials to used electornics !
Remember we now need to make room for over 7 billion people in the world; and hopefully save room for all the other critters on our blue/green Earth !

I have a few pairs I could contribute to the recycling project. Most are overpriced & under performing.

I would love to have one of these, as I lived in the West Indies while Bob M was still alive and heard him live there. The headphones would bring back memories of those days.

Yes. They should be doing everything in their power to make them as green as possible. It shouldn't be only about profit.

I think companies should make an effort to be sustainable and ethical. But the ones in the news like Apple are being overly political and incendiary as Apple does not own or control Foxcomm nor is APple it's only customer.

Apple has made great efforts to be greener and has done so far earlier than most tech companies, thats why you don't get a big box and thick manual with Apple computers.

But many companies still use too much packaging, cell phones are the worst, trying to make you feel like you got more for your money they often over pack the box, use too much printing and ink.

Most companies today use soy based inks even if they do not know it though and most consumers know little about what companies do other than the sensationalized news which is why everyone is on Apple's case just because they are big and successful, they are far from the worst.

Its great for all those who pretend to be offended, but far too few in the public have any kind of clue as to what's really going on, who the big wasters are and allow themselves to be manipulated too easily.

"HoM has expressed a commitment..." and they *may* be able to follow through. At what cost? and will consumers pay the premium for that commitment?

Bob Marley's was poet and a prophet. Bob Marley taught me how to off it. I'm hoping his son's headphones will do the same.

I feel companies should always be mindful of the affects the manufacturing process has upon the environment. We should all recycle.

My state has an electronics recycling program financed by the electronics companies. So, it's wonderful if recycled materials are being used in manufacturing, but if it's impractical for a certain type of product, the system is in place to recycle everything anyway. The program does not cover all products yet - it takes computer monitors, but not keyboards. But it's a start.

A company committing to 'green' manufacturing is great, but it's really not a deciding factor on whether or not I will buy a product or not.
