While custom-colored headphones have been a fixture now for a while courtside (or wherever celebs are to be found), Fanny Wang have introduced a custom program across their entire headphone line. For a $50 upcharge you can go wild with the colors of your choice; an online design tool lets you experiment to your heart's content. Want earthtones with pink highlights? No problem. Oranges and reds? Sure. Whatever suits your fancy (and uses colors within the customization pallette, of course), Fanny Wang will deliver.
Courtesy of Fanny Wang, we're giving away a pair of the company's top-of-the-line 3001 headphones, in custom colors chosen by the winner. The 3001 looks to cover all of your headphone needs, packing in everything but the kitchen sink. It's an over-the-ear active-noise-cancelling 'phone (utilizing a 4-mic system that claims to block 95% of ambient noise), with an onboard 5 watt amp (powered by a pair of AAA batteries) featuring +6dB of switchable bass boost, mic and iOS-friendly remote, and a rigid carrying case. And don't worry, the headphones will still work in passive mode if you neglect the batteries.
If you need more than that from your personal listening device, you may have to resort to strapping a car battery and a receiver to your chest, which would hardly be as practical and fashion forward.
To qualify to win, all you need to do is tell us how important features are to you when considering a headphone purchase. Do noise cancellation, active electronics, microphone and controller modules, etcetera, impact your decisions? Or does sound trump all?
The winner will be chosen randomly from among those who leave on-topic comments below (you'll have to register — no anonymous commenters, we need a valid e-mail contact address to inform you of your win), so don't be afraid to speak your mind. We'll take entries until midnight (Eastern Time), on November 25th, and notify the winner via e-mail on Monday, November 28th, and then put that lucky person in touch with Fanny Wang to finalize the order. Good luck!

Sound trumps all...what else really matters?
Sound trumps all...what else really matters?
sound is most important to me followed closely by comfort. Plus I don't care to much about how they look.
Headphone features such as comfort, volume control and durability are important but the trump card is sound quality. After all that's why we buy them.
Noise cancellation, quality sound and microphone is very important. Im trying to win for my son who uses headphones and thats what he says. I would love to win these for him. He needs them for the computer. Thanks for the chance
Sound quality and comfort are the most important. For specific situations noise canceling or over the ear noise blocking are key.
Comfort and sound are very important
Sound quality is most imporntant with comfort a close second. Being able to reproduce the human voice & a realistic soundstage is a must. Correct sound is far more imporntant than just how much bass they can muster.
Sound quality first, then ergonomics and appearance. I have a pair of Bowers and Wilkins, are amazing.
Sound and comfort are the two most important things when it comes to headphones, regardless if the headphone is over-ear, on-ear, in ear, etc. The balance of sound levels that the headphones produce is important too. If the bass is too loud it can ruin a lot of music, same if the treble levels are messed up. It's important to be able to have all of these levels balanced for your headphones.
Being from So Cal, besides all the other things mentioned by others, they have to look cool...::smile::
My iPod is tethered to over-the-ear headphones when I exercise or walk outdoors. I would like to see a greater selection of robust earphones capable of buffering sweat and resitant to bumps and tugs.
Comfort and sound quality are equally importnat for me. How can you enjoy one without the other. Noise cancelling is important when traveling but otherwise not necessary.. Style comes into play with those that want to show everyone how cool they are. The headphones should be lightweight and sound better than hi-end speakers.
Looking for a sound that rivals a live event
Mic doesn't matter too much, most important to me is sound, comfort and appearance. I've never found a pair with a mic that work quite as well as I would like. Noise cancellation is nice but not imperative. Thanks.
The sound always comes at the top of the list -
The comfort - so they do not feel like you have spent a couple hours
in the London Tower of torture
The looks - Do they look professional and 'expensive'
For me, the most important thing is sound followed by comfort. It is a foregone conclusion my hair will get the headphone dent because off-the-shelf ear buds do not feel good in my ears.
I like for my headphone to sound and look good. Bright colors are fun.
Sound trumps all. I'm a pedestrian sort of person, and I don't need noise-cancelling because I like to listen to the dulcet sound of traffic sneaking up behind me.
1. Sound (quality and noise reduction)
2. Comfort (how long can I wear them without hurting)
3. Durability (can they live through my son).
Comfort is most important to me as well as good sound of course. Color is interesting. My children are dedicated users.
Great product
Sound is a big factor, as is comfort. As often as I listen to music with headphones, I also listen to audiobooks where I'm not as concerned about sound quality. That's where noise cancellation would come in handy.
Comfort followed closely by reproduction quality. I had a sounding pair that would get sweaty (Rather, I would) after an hour, very annoying.
Well, It is important to have great quality sound. That being said, I would probably not buy a product that had perfect sound quality if they were extremely uncomfortable and ugly. It is important to have a well rounded product.
Great headphones! My kids love the customization.
for me it would be sound, comfort and then noise cancellation, in that order. nothing beats strong sound quality.
Not to be too much of an echo, but sound, sound, sound! Then comfort & durability tie. After that, what's the point? If they look like Mickey Mouse ears but sound like (fill in favorite headphone here) and are comfortable, I'd wear them. Proudly.
Sound is alway priority for me when I'm looking for headphones. They have to deliver the quality that I demand ... along with comfort so that I can wear them for long periods of time.
Sound quality is the most important aspect I consider when purchasing a headphone. However, build quality and comfort are also essential features. If the headphone is uncomfortable or broken it doesn't matter how good it sounds.
sound quality, then noise cancellation, then comfort
Noise cancellation.. take the world away and get lost in the music
I agree with many about sound quality. I've enjoyed my Grado SR-80 phones but they aren't the most comfortable so comfort would be a close second. I think price should be considered. I have a hard time justifying the price of many phones I see.
For me one of the most important features to have in a pair of headphones is comfort. No matter how good they are, for me they are useless if I can't even enjoy wearing them.
Sound definitely is first priority but comfort is a very close second because if they aren't comfortable I'm simply not gonna use them for very long!!!
I love for my headphones to fit comfortably for hours and I want them to completely seal off any outside noise. I don't want to be able to hear you screaming at me if you are 2 feet away. Most importantly, The sound must be crystal clear. No humming or buzzing at all with the volume on ten if there is a silent pause in the recording. Achieve these things in one pair of headphones and you can have my money. All of it. I have yet to come across a pair yet. However there are many I haven't tried. Please let me know if they exist. I am looking. I doubt it can be found.
I like a good fit, where the phones are not too tight. The sound should be "airy" and bright. Since I would use them in a designated room home theater, I would want them to come close to the sound of my speakers with the depth and separation being very important. Bass is a big deal, so that response quality is a must. The quality of the sound reigns above all else!
Sound quality is definitely a number one priority and noise cancellation is a close second. I travel alot and seem to always have the luck of being seated next to a child. Enough said. So these headphones would be a lifesaver for me!
Been dong a lot of research on noise canceling headset and I believe these could be better than bosenor beats
Sound quality is most important, followed by comfort. After that, IOS remote and mic is nice.
The quality of the sound is very important. Comfort & price are also important factors when buying headphones.
Sound then comfort.Theres no point in having headphones that you can only wear for a short time.
Def the sound quality - then comfort second. Noise reduction third. And I ride public transit everyday too. Truly comfortable headphones are rare...A nice set of headphones that fit JUST right makes all the difference in the world when you're sittin' on the bus or the train, to me at least.
If I'm using noise-cancelling headphones, I want to be immersed in the music and block out the ambient noise of the world around me...the crying kid, the nonsensical-chatter of the homeless guy, the preaching of the religious nut, etc.
When I'm listening to my music, I want to really LISTEN. Not have it mixed with the world around me.

I think they would look cool and it would make my kids jealous.
I think we came to an era where headphones became a big part of fashion. Walking on the campus, I'd notice bunch of people with their Beats by Dr. Dre. No offense but they do not offer the best sound quality within its price range. With the same price, I would pick up a different pair of cans that offer so much better quality. Surely, Beats outperform other brands with its marketing strategies. What we have to consider is how consumer react. Nowadays, people "wear" headphones. Of course sound is the most important factor that all headphones should offer, but if I were to choose some features that affect my purchase decisions, they'd be the product' design and value. Well, value is kinda hard to define, but let's just say I mean the good value for the bucks. If two different headphones offered same or similar sounds quality, I would go for the one that is either cheaper or that looks better. Well, if the headphone is just for monitoring or for a studio, the look probably doesn't really matter. But if we are talking about something that you would carry outside, I think its look or its design definitely matters. And its durability and comfort are implied to be good with the amount I would pay for a good pair.
The most important aspect of a good pair of headphones is SOUND...followed by comfort. When I listen to music, I want to hear everything. I want to feel the passion behind the melodies and hear the individual instruments in the compositions. When I can hear these things, I feel like I'm there with the orchestra or artist. It's incredible. My digital ambiance gear consists of: Westone3 earphones, Beats by Dr Dre, Sennheiser HD595's, and a JDS Labs cMoy Headphone Amplifier. Man, I love music!

Sound and comfort mean the most to me.
