"Pulling them out 4 feet or more from the wall...". Oh, come now (or in current vernacular, "really?"). At least this section allows me to vent about the ridiculous notion of putting a speaker four feet into a room. Several other S&V reviews over the years recommended a three-foot remove from the wall, which was enough to make this reader stop subscribing and lower the worth of the review. And I've owned Paradigm Reference speakers since the 90s. A generous 18 inches from the wall, and rear-ported too.
Even if you've got a McMansion in Mooresville, NC why would you surrender 35-50 square feet of pricey floor space and a whole lot more visual turf to this? If you're not sitting in the sweet spot there's a good chance that 55-incher will be obscured unless it comes out the same distance too, and then your guests will suspect you've sublet the space behind because your mortgage is underwater.
If you're in a non-monster house, let alone a typical condo, or if you have a spouse who is anyone other than a guy who can chat for hours about the sound of cables, such speaker placement isn't even up for discussion. Think of the mass of your readers before advising nonsense.
