Review: Value Gaming Headsets from Sony, Skullcandy, Sennheiser and PDP

I agree with most of what is written on these 4 headsets as I've tested most every notable gaming headset as well. I do disagree with the bottom line (which is the crux of every review):
The SLYR is undoubtedly a great entry level headset, despite flimsy components and non-surround option. But, how can you recommend the PDP above the Sennheiser or Sony? Poor mic, distracting glow, hissing/white noise, and uncomfortable.

Furthermore, you say the Sony's "..weren't as competitive on features or sound quality...". They work on essentially everything but 360, wireless, 7 sound modes, fully adjustable BassImpact (only headset available to use this), audio-to-mic adjustment, overall volume slider, hear your own voice (absent on some headsets), quality hidden mic, and virtual surround. It has everything and more than the other models, and higher quality and durability. $135+ price tag is higher, but for the exact opposite reason that was stated; it is feature RICH! You even listed a con as too many things on the headset.

I found the Sony Pulse headset to have very solid sound reproduction from low to high. On par with much pricier gaming and even music headsets. Also, repeated battery tests with virtual surround sound AND BassImpact on resulted in a average nearly 5.25 hours (longer if those options are not enabled), so it be aware it can vary. Highly recommended for anyone who has 'tried' a gaming headset and is looking for something better on PS3.
