are their any worries about viruses or the like getting a foothold in these 'smart' streaming devices and passing along credit card or other personal information to the hackers thieves?

I like the fact that TV are including streaming apps. What is keeping Samsung (or anyone other than Apple apparently) from making a full on "PC" TV? I have an older 720P Plasma that is slightly thicker than your average TV now. Isn't there space in there for a laptop processor, ssd and N wireless adapter? So many TVs have wireless adapter "add-ons" available for $75-$150. Why?
There are a bunch of 10-foot user interfaces for linux so why not? Would a beefier CPU help streaming?
Any chance we will see a return to "dumb tvs" and the integration of a Roku like device into a blu-ray player or ideally into a HT receiver? The streaming apps on todays tvs and BD players are too limited in content and are duplications of each other. I would also like to see a switched AC receptacle on the back of HT receivers which could be operated by the receiver's remote. I could then turn my HTPC on and off by the receiver's remote. Thanks
