At $1,700, Sony's HDR-HC3 high-def camcorder is just $100 cheaper than the previous model, but it still takes a step forward by being the first HD cam with an HDMI output - the digital video connector most common on new HDTVs. Capturing footage to special high-def MiniDV tapes ($17 each) in the 1080i format, the Handycam can simultaneously snap 2-megapixel still pics, saving them to a Memory Stick Duo card. All these heavy-hitting visuals come in a package that weighs just over a pound.
