MUSIC REVIEWS: My Morning Jacket

A trip through rock's storied past, perhaps? Louisville's My Morning Jacket stops at all the major sites on their fourth studio album. "Wordless Chorus" is a haunted piece of ethereal Flaming Lips psych-rock. "Anytime" has a bright New Wave hook from the 1980s. "What a Wonderful Man" sounds like Johnny Thunders fronting a garage band. And "Lay Low" could be a lost outtake from the Band (circa The Basement Tapes) as if they were jamming with Crazy Horse. There's not a clunker in this grand, reverb-enhanced collection.
