If nothing else, TV on the Radio deserves credit for reinventing stoner rock: This mashup of dub, hip-hop, guitar noise, and Bowie-esque "plastic soul" (with the man himself making a cameo) is unquestionably unique. But it takes a certain mindset to appreciate a band maintaining the same loping groove for the better part of 75 minutes, seldom wrapping it into a real song. Brilliantly detailed as these soundscapes are, they prove to be the whole point of the album.
