Perry Farrell of Jane's Addiction, back in form — and backed by aerial dancers — at New York City's Terminal 5
Jane's Addiction is back in action, with a brand-new album on the way and a tour in progress. The '90s icons, with original members Perry Farrell, Dave Navarro, and Stephen Perkins (Chris Chaney is original bassist and perennial reunion holdout Eric Avery), brought their act — including a clutch of new tunes and a revue of bondage dancers — to NYC's Terminal 5 last night, where S+V resident photographer Dan Bracaglia caught up with the band.
The show was co-presented by LG and YouTube — which meant that the event was streamed live, with HD clips already available, and an audience-shot 3D documentary (filmed on LG Thrill 3D phones, naturally) is in the works.
The Great Escape Artist, co-produced by Cave In and Interpol knobsman Rich Costey and TV on the Radio mastermind Dave Sitek (who also holds down the bass chair), will be available September 27th.

Fabulous! We will have more on — and with — Jane's Addiction in the months ahead. Stay tuned.
I first saw Jane's at the long-gone uptown Ritz in NYC on Wednesday, November 21, 1990, for a mere $21.50. We were in the front of the balcony. The Buck Pets, killer hard-ass alt-rockers from Dallas, opened. Jane's was on fire that night for sure. An inadvertent, er "highlight": Perry Farrell, dressed head to toe in shiny leather, took a full header while dancing midset.
Next time was at Madison Square Garden circa 6 months later — Wednesday, April 24, 1991. And for only 17 bucks! Happy Mondays opened for this victory lap of sorts for the mega success of Ritual de lo Habitual.
FF a decade later to MSG once again -- this time, Monday, October 15, 2001. The Jubilee Tour, with a full-on "pyscho-sexual circus" in the house. A bizarre spectacle to behold, but a blazing set nonetheless.
Can't wait to see 'em again!
