GAME REVIEWS: Guitar Hero

0602_entertainment_covers

Red Octane (PS2)
Game ••••½
Graphics/Sound ••½

Screw managers and producers - rock stars are born in living rooms. All it takes is a PS2 and a Guitar Hero bundle, complete with your very own plastic axe. With five frets in the form of color buttons and a trigger to strum up/down, it's a nearly spot-on simulation - without strings. And like Dance Dance Revolution, it's as simple as matching beats as they scroll onscreen, wailing to "Ziggy Stardust," getting hard 'n' heavy on "Iron Man," or soaring to celebrity with any of the 30 killer riffs here.
