DVD REVIEWS: Entourage: Season 1

Vincent Chase (Adrian Grenier) travels from Queens to Hollywood, where he becomes a big movie star. His entourage is a group of former New Yorkers who live with him: script supervisor Eric (Kevin Connolly), washed-up-actor/brother Johnny Drama (Kevin Dillon), and Turtle (Jerry Ferrara), a tag-along who serves as the driver of their bright yellow Hummer. As warm, human, and funny as these guys are, it is often Vincent's manager (Jeremy Piven) or guest stars like Gary Busey who earn the most laughs. The picture on this two-disc set is bright, colorful, and detailed, but the soundtrack is sometimes muddy and confusing. Producer Doug Ellin and writer Larry Charles offer affable commentaries for three of the episodes, and there is a short featurette with cast interviews. [NR] English, Dolby Surround; French, Dolby Digital stereo; full frame (1.33:1); two dual-layer discs.
