DVD REVIEW: Beavis and Butt-Head Vol. 1

The Mike Judge Collection

More than a decade after they first appeared on late-night MTV, Beavis and Butt-Head are still sitting on the couch together making fart jokes. Creator Mike Judge has hand-picked 40 of the episodes that "didn't suck" for this three-disc set of misadventures (including the classic Great Cornholio). No DVD production talent could do much to help the endearingly low-quality animation, though colors are bright. Likewise, the stereo soundtrack is purely functional. A disc of extras includes a featurette, some archival special appearances, and the puerile pair's philosophical ruminations on 11 music videos by the likes of the Beastie Boys. [TV-14] English, Dolby Digital stereo; full frame (1.33:1); one single- and two dual-layer discs.
